How to Save Money When Buying Extension Pole

Mr. Long Arm Pro Extension Pole, 6-to-12-Feet

It would be difficult to write a review about an extension pole that would crack open the Earth, tear apart the sky, and end world hunger due to its shear awesomeness. I mean, it's a pole that extends. So I won't shoot for razzle-dazzle. I'll just say why I like it and what I use it for, and let it be that. Sorry, I know that's disappointing.

I use this extension pole with the unique and surprisingly effective gadget called

Gutter Sense Gutter Cleaning Tool - Improvements

. My parents' home is two stories and I don't like having to shimmy up top to clean the leaves out with a leaf blower. I ESPECIALLY don't like the thought of my parents attempting this feat, so I bought the Gutter Sense and this pole to mount it on.

The pole is fairly lightweight, yet sturdy. Even when fully extended it holds up with the usage of the gutter cleaner. It does bend a bit at the slimmer portion when I'm trying to haul out a clump of leaves and I get the device caught on a gutter support, but that's to be expected. The locking collar for the extension is a nice, heavy plastic that is a very effective anchor - it really does tighten things down securely. The plastic threading on top of the pole for attachments pairs with said attachments well - there is no cross-threading or poorly defined areas on the threading that would lend itself to damaging the pole or accessories. I really like that the attachment I'm using secures very well to the pole - no coming loose when I bump it on something, etc. It tightens down and stays that way.

My final reason for liking it: it's made in the U.S.A. Given how many products are being made overseas for less money and (usually poorer quality), it is nice to see this device, as simple as it is, made here.

Cheers!

My husband&#;s review: I mainly got this because my kids constantly get toys stuck on the roof, in trees, and over the fence in neighbor yards. This pole makes it much easier to get those toys back into my kids&#; hands. The hook attachment I got with it is super helpful. I use it for all kinds of things. I&#;ve been using the pole for several months now and I wanted to wait to leave a review until I had really tried it out. It&#;s pretty easy to use, but I do have some minor complaints.

1. While it is lightweight it still seems pretty heavy when it is completely extended and/or I need to hold it more horizontal than vertical. I&#;m not sure I could expect much more though since I don&#;t want to it be any more flimsy than it already is. Which brings me to my next point&#;

2. It is a little flimsy. I&#;ve been pretty careful with it and even so some of the sections are getting bent. I don&#;t try to pick up or lift anything heavy either. Once a pole gets bent it makes it harder to extend and retract that section. It doesn&#;t slide out nicely anymore like it once did.

3. While adjusting the levers to extend out another section, the screw that is on the lever moves (tightens), making it so I can&#;t fully bring the lever flush with the pole again because it it too tight, if that makes sense. I&#;m constantly pulling out a screwdriver to loosen the screws on every lever so I can bring it all the way down. Otherwise, the levers stick out form the pole and get caught on stuff while I&#;m using the pole (like tree branches or the chain link fence).

4. I hadn&#;t had it long before one of the sections came out completely when I was extending it. Normally it stops at the end so you know when you can&#;t extend it anymore, but that time it just came right out, caught me by surprise and fell on my patio. This cause two sections to get a little bent. I was able to bend them back so the pole still works but know I have to be extra careful with that section to not extend it all the way out. It happens to be the second section too, which I use a lot.

5. Using the pole makes my hands dirty. It&#;s like extending and retracting the poles makes it rub off a little bit of the metal each time, and it creates this sparkly dust that gets all over my hands. Not a big deal but annoying.

All in all I like having it. I&#;m not sure if it is worth the hefty price but I can&#;t return it now anyway. I think I&#;ll have to be very gentle with it in order to keep it in good condition.
